What can I get for ten dollar? chocolatebark September 16 2007, 12:54:16 UTC
I really need to pick this CD up already. I haven't talked to a single person whose opinion I value who hasn't loved it.

I've read a few negative opinions on it. Mostly from liberals that her radicalism scares. This is what made me check it out in the first place, heh.

That said, there are a few tracks that simply don't "click" for me, but most of it is quite amazing, in my opinion, for the sheer audacity of her message, if not for how much they rock.

My favorite album of the year so far. To show you what company I'm putting it in, my favorite album of last year was Scott Walker's "The Drift". Yes, it's that good.

Thank goodness there's still music out there that can scare people. I don't get Fox News anymore, someone'll have to tell me if Bill O'Reilly starts ranting about her.

Ah, yeah. Drift was a classic--and somehow I left it off my top 10 of 2006. What a brainfart on my part. Embarassin' stuff. (I think, for some reason, I had thought it came out in 2005)

Indeed, though I really don't think it's scary stuff myself, but, you know, as alluded to in the review, it's not Bono telling white liberals how they can save the poor savages of the third world and feel good about themselves for doing it, it's M.I.A. giving a voice to the third world with them saying "we are coming for you".

Ever saw the Jesse video, off of The Drift, by the way?
