Obama's choice

So, it's Biden.

I got my text message at 2:39 am, though I already knew about it from Yahoo news.  I wasn't exactly the 'first to know'.

I'm not real happy about Biden, though I prefer him over Bayh, Kaine or Sebelius.  I'm not a big fan of Biden, because although he is really great at the fiery, passionate rhetoric, and he is very knowledgeable ( Read more... )

Well, I'm obviously not pleased by it.

Yeah, Biden may know some thing and he sure talks a lot including some of the best gaffes of all time! Including referring to Obama as 'clean' in the primary- as in having good hygeine for a black person. And the 7-11 thing was a sure classic. And I'm sure we can look forward to more in the general.

I think this was a fear choice for Obama. He's feeling weak, especially in certain areas. And he IS- polls say too. So he picked this so-called 'foreign policy expert' who is about as 'Washington insider' as you can get. An old white guy, with 30+ years in the SENATE. And in my opinion it's just the wrong choice for the 'Washington outsider' and the 'Candidate of Change.' Blah indeed. Just more politics as usual folks.

I'm not seeing much of a bounce here. I think it's going to be a close election- and that's just sad to me after how well it all started and all the hope and excitement that WAS in the air.

Well, Biden is more of a guy that connect with the less intellectual, more working class Democrats, at that may help Obama marginally but he's going to have to win them over himself. I always believe that the best way to win is to unabashedly explain and defend your viewpoints rather than acting like you don't have those views because they might freak people out. The politicians that do that well should be the ones that run for the big office - then you advance your cause through the campaign, win or lose.

But Democrats don't really understand that very well.

What I like about Biden is that he doesn't come across as all that phony. Obama's charisma might make him appear that way to some people. we'll see how it goes, I guess...

Yeah, he might appeal to that demographic, but HRC would have appealed to them much more- that was one of her strong bases. And that was only part of why the GOP was much more afraid he was going to pick her, for good reason. It's true I haven't seen Biden come off as all that phony yet, but I also haven't seen how they're going to spin Biden speaking again and again during the primary about how Obama is not ready or qualified to be president. BTW, he did that much more than Hillary did, maybe because he just..talks so much more. ;-> And I keep wondering who's foriegn policy is going to win out- Obama's or Biden's? I suppose we'll see. I'm still predicting a really close race in the general now, and generally just more of the same politically. Yawn, yawn ( ... )

Heh. The McCain camp is ALREADY running an ad! Shit that was quick- maybe they're more tech savvy than we think.. ;->

VO: "What does Barack Obama's running-mate say about Barack Obama?" Cut to George Steppenop. asking Biden a question in a debate: "You were asked is he ready. You said: I think he can be ready but right now I don't believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on the job training." Biden says "I think I stand by the statement." Cut to Obama looking defeated. VO: "And what does he say about John McCain?" Cut to Biden again: "I would be honored to run with or against John McCain because I think the country would be better off." Only one 'clever' edit that most wouldn't notice for a quick, effective little stinger.

I like Biden. He's "toothy" and "truthy." Even when he flubs around I like him!
