It has been unbelievably nice this weekend. Right now the temperature is 84 F, and I've spent most of the day outside reading, riding and playing with Pria.

Compost

I transplanted the kale seedlings into larger pots today. They could barely stand on their own, so they have been moved to 4" and 5" pots. There are about 23 kale plants that are growing well.

This morning the tomatoes were started. I saved the seeds from Farmers Market plants, which is cheap and hopefully effective. There are four separate types, and hopefully one of each pops up. We use a lot of tomatoes in the kitchen.

Started seed for cabbage, brussels sprouts, kale, oregano and thyme. The table in the dining room is perfectly situated facing south out large windows facing three directions: south-east, south and south-west. Hopefully this year's crop will do better than last year's. I woke up excited to work with soil and seed. It was a feeling of anticipation ( Read more... )

Started seed for curly leaved parsley before church this morning. Package says that it contains 3x more Vitamin C per weight as oranges. The Vitamin C Foundation finds that it's not that much, but it does seem potent especially when raw or freeze-dried.

When we moved here in September, we made the decision to not bring our second car up here. I had faith that I could find a job within walking/biking distance from our home in centrally located Wauwatosa. It turns out that God is good and I work 1.7 miles north of home.
