What Are You Going to Do With Your Life?

May 24, 2006 22:35

Rebecca: What are you up to next week?
Helena: Some interesting combination of hermit-like writing and harlot-like debauchery, most likely. [pause] Actually, you can take the qualifier off of the question there. That's what I'm up to. In general. Permanently.

...well, if it makes it any better, there's also that part where in September I start teaching English Literature and Writing [and possibly theatre] to high school students, if that makes it any better. But shhhh, don't tell anyone, it'll spoil the illusion.

but yeah, I'm jealous of myself sometimes.

That's totally understandable. I'd warn you that mine may be a little self-important and cryptic, but the last time I warned a friend of that, they said very sarcastically "Ooooh, so you're really revolutionizing the form, then?" and they had a point. ;)

can't. stop. staring. at. the. turtle. is that one raphael? I can't quite remember whose color is whose right now. I'd totally be Raphael. I loved that show when I was a kid and my mother, who is an art historian [among other things] specializing in renaissance painters [among other things] was APPALLED at it.
