So, Tiger Woods, arguably the best golfer in the history of the sport, will re-start his job at the Masters in a couple weeks, the site of his first Major win. CBS (who will be broadcasting it) is already hyping it as the biggest sports/media event of recent memory.

I'm betting he wins the thing cold, and man, what a show that will be. I'll be

I'll be watching too. I was hoping he'd be back at Bay Hill next week, but the Masters is good too. :)

I heard that on the radio this morning and was trying to figure out what is going to make it the biggest sports/media event. Do you have any insight?

I thought the US v Canada game for gold in the olympics was pretty durn big, I can't imagine a golf game being bigger, especially Canadians.

(BTW I was strolling through Billi-Jean's friends page and saw your post.. friend of a friend thing.)

Tiger is as big (and was as respected) as O.J. Simpson once was a generation before. Sad to say, as much as the Canada/US game was an amazing and fun match-up, hockey isn't one of the major sports in the US. It's big in parts of the northern part of the country, and spots here and there, but I didn't even see the game myself, and I don't personally know many who did watch it.

Also, it was a match-up that only had a few days notice to hype it up, and this Tiger thing has been going on for months. Which is kinda what the CBS guy is doing -- hyping it up. Golf isn't exactly NASCAR here in the States either, even if Tiger is the most recognizable sports figure.

I don't think everyone is going to stop what they're doing...and watch four days of golf, six hours a day. But, I bet a lot of people tune in here and there.
