I've been scarce and distant lately, and I figured I owed you an explanation. You see, I've been seeing another forum. It's not as bad as it sounds, there's not the FB/LJ commitment that I have with you...but you see, I have this boat I'm working on, and they understand me over there. So, while I'm trying to get this boat fixed up, I was confused, ( Read more... )

I was enough of a cad to post pictures on the other forum. I think she'll be good with children, too. But, that doesn't mean we don't have Clearwater....

I think you should have come to us first.

Bah, you're Northerner's now.

Funny thing, though. One of the other boat guys on that forum is from NJ and bought a boat and towed it home, then found a family of raccoons living under his deck and hand to figure out how to evict them.

I have been involved with several full restorations throughout my life:

1976 27' Albin sailboat
1974 32' Owens Concorde sport fish
1964 30' Trojan cabin cruiser (100% wood)
1985 25' Sea Ray Amberjack

Seen my fair share of rotten transoms, stringers, and decks. Watched sunken locked up engines come to life, and enjoyed shake down cruises with lots of pride. It can be very rewarding!

Fun fact: I sold new Bayliners in 1999 :)

wow!

the 2d becomes more 3d everyday with you! awesome!

that's some patience! I watch him doing his thing (this is his second restoration that i have been through) and the whole process i am all jumping up and down on the sides thinking 'come on come on come on just slap some glue on the thing and lets get in the water already!!!!' while he patiently tears away layer by layer and builds it back up slowly. makes me pull my hair out! thank god for the canoe and kayak :D

There was this one time that sticks out in my head most. And it was taking this picture from the end of the dock, looking back at the rotted, foul smelling bucket of holes that we were afraid would fall through the boat stands and wondering "What in the hell have we done"
