The first shot is from the airplane on the way to Amsterdam. As the dawn glow (the blue) was appearing on the horizon, a miles-long stretch of glowing red appeared in the water, stretching just under the horizon. It couldn't have been a reflection from the sky, as there was no red there, so it must have been a large colony of phosphorescent organisms.
so basically i was apprehensive about taking pictures with you if you were super good and i asked gabriel if that was the case. he told me that we were "pretty much on the same level," which i can now see is a LIE. i don't know if we can still have our photo outing--i am too intimidated! it does not help that we apparently have the same camera (nikon d50?) and i can't blame it on picture quality. anyway, i hope i appear adequately awed--fantastic shots, seriously.
Thank you so much for the praise; it made my night. After spending so much money on a camera and so much of my time taking pictures of everything, striving to capture beautiful and interesting images, honest praise from someone whose opinion I respect is what I often need in order to make me feel like I'm not wasting time and money, without achieving anything worthwhile. It's what keeps me out there, shooting. So thank you, with sincerity.
I am proud of these photos; however, you most definitely have no reason to be intimidated by a photo outing with me. I find the idea of that to be LAUGHABLY absurd (litterally; I laughed as I read your comment), considering that you are well known for your photography talent, and I am certainly no established pro, what with my huge two months of real experience with my camera under my belt.
I see it now. the plane I mean. pretty awesome. I'd have to go with the eiffel tower as my third favorite. See you on Labor Day :) I'm getting the ingredients for that special cake today. HOpe last night was fun...I hung out with my mom..she's so cool :) seriously. see you soon J. -Caro-
.... tomorrow... you better have that damn cake or you won't get your full hour with The Boys. Oh, and it has to taste really good, too. You must realize we're doing you a huge favor/honor by allowing you to stay. All other friends (except maybe David, ofcourse) are allowed only a short cameo on our special day, as our traditions prescribe. You are going to be a groundbreaking change in Labor Day traditions, one which will only be worth our while if the cake is superb. It better be.
Amanda is working at Caroline Cafe' right across from your sitting area...so maybe i'll stop in and say hey to her also...and maybe david too? ha. Oh and it'll be good. you can bet your life on it.
Thanks, Emily. I'g glad you found my LJ and took enough interest to comment, it's a nice surprise. I believe your bio said something about photography as one of your interests. Do you have any pictures I could see? See you soon, dammit (I hate the circumstances under which I'll see you).
