Favorite Books?

Okee doke. So I'm taking a trip with my family soon, to Thailand and China. Anyone have any favorite book titles to recommend? (fiction, nonfiction, whatevah). Love to read pretty much anything -- but I'm looking for some particularly juicy examples. A truly compelling page turner or two I'm thinking will contribute significantly to my overall ( Read more... )

- "american gods" - neil gaiman
- "neverwhere" - neil gaiman
- "the hotzone" - richard preston (gross but facinating)
- "snow white, blood red" - a collection of modern fairytales edited by ellen datlow and terry windling.

Ooo! Lucky girl! Enjoy the trip. Don't have a clue if this is even REMOTELY of interest but thought I'd pass it on only because I read it while travelling from Nova Scotia to Australia.

And thanks for the suggestion -- I recall that horrible incident several years back, but didn't realize there was a book. I poured though both 'Into Thin Air' and 'Into the Wild' by Jon Krakauer, and this one has been compared to them -- so, yep!

Thanks! -- though I doubt you be terrible jealous if you knew just how sick I am right now, ha! Nasty, NASTY cold, complete with Pink Eye, chills, racking cough, the works! Well, better now I guess than during my travels at least -- though it's interfering with my planning and I'm starting to feel unprepared (that panicky feeling wants to settle in and I keep batting it away)....

And thanks for the links --Ooh, the first sounds very intriguing indeed (and I love the cover) plus I had to giggle at the second -- the "self help book from hell", heh...!
