On anniversaries

My doctor asked the purpose of my visit today, as I sat up on the exam table, swinging my legs like a three-year-old. "Well, as you know, I donated a kidney last year. My surgeon was insistent that I get a physical every year to make sure everything's running as it ought, so here I am." I'm sure my surgeon didn't mean I had to make my appointments
