It was funny to do too! Even if I had some technical difficulties at a moment because of my scanner and Tumblr xD Thanks a lot for your great comment ♥
That is so cool watching Dean's injuries bloom under your hand. Love all the other details, too. His face and hair and the texture of his tee and jeans - mesmerizing. Thank you. You picked a lovely subject. : )
I wasn't very courageous when I picked up Dean as a model for this tutorial. I know his face by heart and I rarely screw up when I have to draw him now, unlike few years ago, when it was a torture... I wouldn't have done the same kind of Step by Step with Chris Evans for instance. He is horribly hard to draw. His eyes, my god, his EYES -_______- Thanks a lot for your great comment ♥
Beautiful!! I love your progression from pencil construction, to ink, to fine detail. And it just ain't a petite_madame work without wounds and blood, is it? ;)
And of COURSE I've got questions. :) In the first sketch, what's the top circle on Dean's head? At first I thought he'd be looking down and the circle was indicating the top of his head, or maybe the bottom part of the circle would indicate where his eyes were to go . . . but that circle disappeared pretty quickly. Besides, you don't seem to draw construction lines for facial features (which is even more impressive, BTW -- you are MAGIC, woman!), so . . . what was that circle for? :D
Also, is watercolor pencil easier to use than regular color pencil? Different texture, different "feel," or is it just something you prefer?
Man, I still can't get over you and those ballpoint pens!
Thanks for this! *bows to you and your mighty ballpoints*
In the first sketch, what's the top circle on Dean's head? This circle is my starting point, you can call it the "superstition circle" because I draw it much out of superstition, than out a real technical need. It goes from the top of the head to the nostrils. It disappears quickly because I don't need it, or just as a kind of vague guidelines to draw the oval of the face. Once I drew the nostrils, it's gone.
Besides, you don't seem to draw construction lines for facial features I do! It's just that they were too pale to be visible by my scanner (even after some PS enhancement). But I do need them, badly, the face doesn't appear by magic xD Someone asked me the same thing on Tumblr, I think it will answer your question: http://petite-madame.tumblr.com/post/27152552560/ireenalicious-replied-to-your-photo-step-4-the

You have NO idea how much better that makes me feel. Because getting facial features in the right place is sometimes . . . difficult. Even with construction lines. (I still think you're a wizard with a pen, though.)
With a "normal" color pencil, you always have a kind of blue stain left, not with the pencil I use
I did not know this! Thank you! \o/ *runs off to get some watercolor pencils*
