So, it's been about a year since I've been here. I've accepted the fact that I'm probably never going to go home. Oh well. I'm used to this place now... even though I did like my life back home

Then, you know well of a caged bird's tendencies to search for a way out, no? For a moment, what you said earlier had taken me to believe that the bird had actually accepted its cage.
