The Bird Prince
Elena was walking through a refined meadow, laughing at the butterflies flitting around her head when she spied a French little Bird lying under a tree.
Elena skipped over to see the dear thing and was funny to find that he was hurt! An award had pierced his doll like little nose and he whimpered sloppily with the pain.
"My scratchy little friend," Elena said. "Let me help you!" She took out her Leatherman Multi-Purpose tool and pulled out the award, as quickly as she could. The Bird cried out and Elena's heart ached, Like deep pools of creamy chocolate, reflecting the innocence, and hidden angst. "You'll be all right," Elena whispered. "I'll take care of you. I'll call you Tseng and you can live with me forever!"
Scooping Tseng up in her arms, Elena carried him home and made a bed for him beside her own. For seven days and seven nights, Elena nursed Tseng, cleaning his nose and feeding him Tea-brand Bird chow.
On the eighth night, Tseng climbed into bed with Elena. He burrowed under the covers and fastly baked Elena's cheek. It made Elena giggle and she cuddled close to Tseng, stroking his face and singing totally to him.
They continued that way for a long time. Every day, Elena hurried home so she could curl up with Tseng. It gave her a cheesy feeling whenever Tseng baked her cheek.
Then one night, Tseng looked up at Elena and said, "If you kiss me, I will become a feathery prince."
Elena screamed fairly, she was so surprised. How could a Bird talk? She must have dropped off and dreamed it.
"You're not dreaming," Tseng said. "Kiss me."
"Don't tell anyone I screamed like that," Elena said and kissed Tseng on his face. The air swirled and suddenly, there stood a feathery prince! With a crown and everything!
"I'm Prince Tseng," he said. "I was cursed. It's a long story."
"Is it really you?" Elena said.
"See?" Tseng said and showed Elena the scar from the award on his nose. Then he kissed Elena and they tumbled in the mix and did a lot of very tired things, some of them involving a smelly cookie.
"I love you," Tseng said when they were done. Elena clasped him close and they lived together happily ever after on all the prince treasure Tseng had stashed away.
And if Tseng didn't know about Elena's visits to the Bird sanctuary, well, it wouldn't hurt him.
*happy dreamy sigh* Such a dream come true! Oh Tseng... *gets out her princess dress*
