We all know that House/Cameron, House/Cuddy, and House/Wilson dominate the House M.D. fandom shiposphere. But, I'm curious to know...what is your favorite rarepair?
Also House/Chase. Serious guilty pleasure. There were actually some good fics around this pairing.
But - Wilson/Amber - although not a rare-pair - never worked for me. I'm one of the few who disliked her. Hugely. Almost as much as I disliked Thirteen - who I think was the most contrived character ever. That said, I think House/Thirteen could have been crafted in a credible fashion, as could have Wilson/Cuddy.
Oooh. Why House/Foreman? (Fans of that pairing did get a canonical butt grab in Season 8.) I wanted to find a gif for you of that, but no matter how hard I tried, Google Images just kept showing me this:
The battle of wills between House and Foreman is one of my favourite aspects of their relationship. To see that transfer to a physical/romatic setting would be highly entertaining.
Amber - I just didn't like her. Even before it came out that she and Wilson were together, I was hoping that she'd get fired and go away. I understand that she was the female House, and much was made of Wilson choosing her, and how she would be good for him. But I just found her utterly horrible. To be fair, I found House horrible at times too, but I was always more invested in his character.
As for thirteen - sigh - I'm sure that Olivia Wilde tried to inject some humanity into the character, without ever stressing her face too much. I just never saw it.
I'd never 'ship Wilson and Cuddy, but theirs is a relationship that might have worked. I could see it.

OMG. YES.
And I can understand a dislike for Amber and Thirteen, as well as Wuddy.
Chalk me up as another House/Foreman fan - mostly because I love queenzulu's stories for the pairing. She sometimes wrote them with House being submissive (but fighting it and continuing to be a total ass) and Foreman dominant - and yum! I wish she'd still been in the fandom for the eighth season - I think we would have got some great stories.
House/Chase - mostly due to alex51324's House/Chase series (and their House/Wilson/Chase series).
I enjoyed one House/Thirteen story I read but I prefer them as friends. Haven't come across any House/Taub or Kutner or Adams or Park or (god forbid) Masters but I haven't gone out of my way to look either:)
Wilson - I honestly can't see him with any of the regular cast except Cuddy, and I don't think he would ever have seriously gone after Cuddy because of House's obvious interest. (Cuddy and Wilson pursuing a relationship in canon would have been *very* interesting - I think House would have exploded with jealousy but without being sure of which he was jealous of :)
I wish that zulu had been around for Season 8 as well. I've seen her House/Foreman fics around though I've never read for that pairing.
Hmmm. House/Wilson/Chase fic, you say?

Wilson/Cameron: In early seasons they respected each other a lot. I think it's Acceptance where Wilson (not House, whose job it should have been) forces Cameron to look the truth in the eye and tell her patient that she's dying. And Cameron is the only one who dares to question Wilson's motives in the Tritter arc (whether rightly or wrongly doesn't matter).
Cuddy/Tritter: don't ask me. I think it's because Tritter and House are similar in many ways. If Cuddy hitched up with him, it would cause a shift in balance, because she wouldn't be inclined to give in so much to House any more.
Wilson/Dominika: she's a lot of fun, she isn't needy, and she gets along with House. And the age difference isn't as great as in the House/Dominika pairing. That age difference always makes me cringe. (Yes, you see it in RL, too, but nowhere near as often as on screen. Studies have shown that men assess their own attractiveness very unrealistically; that probably also applies to the way they write relationships for the screen.)
I second the love for Cuddy/Tritter. He's similar enough to House to appeal to her yen for a bad boy, but he's gone a different direction and can also be responsible (which he kind of has to be if he's a detective on the police force). I think the pairing could work for them. Well, I don't know enough abut Tritter to be sure, but it could be very good for Cuddy.
That Cameron/Thirteen fic of yours was brilliant. An absolutely perfect example of a rare and hard to imagine ship made believable and lovely by an amazing author.
Not sure if Chase/House is a rare pair since there is a lot of fanfiction out there *and* there's evidence of a strong bond on the show as well. I don't mean the slashy kind (although I find them extremely hot together), but in a way that they're actually good for each other in terms of respect and mutual understanding. They both come from a similar background (an abusive childhood, an estranged father), and they both gave each other what they were ready to deal with: Chase needed a father figure (however distant it may have been), and House needed someone in his team who was able to follow his own thought process, and willing to go along with it. I don't recall Chase calling House out for his medical or personal decisions. He usually was the first to acknowledge House's authority as a boss (and his ability to deduct ulterior motives), which was consequently executed during the Dibala arc in S6. It's very telling that he chose to stay with House instead of leaving with Cameron, and given what we've seen on the show, it made perfect

I myself don't ship them as a pairing, but I definitely do understand why people like it and there is more than enough proof in the show, especially for the reasons you listed, not to mention the fact that House has made two comments on Chase's ass during the series. (At least, if I am remembering correctly. ;) ) I do think that their similar backgrounds make for a great argument in favor of the pairing, and do offer a common ground that contributes to their connection. And if anyone can make a believable argument for that pairing it is most certainly you! I love reading your analyses of both the House/Chase relationship and Chase's character.

I agree completely.
I actually almost expected this to happen after House broke up with Cuddy in S7.OMG. SAME HERE! Especially if

Especially if you are referring to the scene where House marries Dominika, and Wilson follows Cuddy into House's bedroom. I really really thought something would happen!
That was my fear during/after that scene, too. I say "fear" because that would've sent an already soapy season over the cliff, IMO. I am not, however, opposed to some OT3 action ;)

I've enjoyed some House/Cuddy/Wilson threesome fics even though the only pair in there I've shipped is House/Wilson.
I've read some great House/Dominika fics, especially stenveny's... Taking the Charge?
Also House/Stacy and Wilson/Amber, although no outstanding fics come to mind.

I should check out that fic by stenveny.
I didn't really consider House/Stacy or Wilson/Amber to be rarepairs, as they were canon. I did like both of those pairings though.
