This drabble is short but sweet. I like the way you have Sherlock diagnose Watson's wistful hesitation. (Also, is it bad that "shiny, taut new strings" made my mind go to non-musical places?)
And the image that served as a prompt for this fic was pretty cool; I'd be interested to hear your take on exactly what that symbolizes in John's psyche.

My thoughts exactly! And both challenges are taking place this month. What is it about July that is so torturous for my favorite characters? ;)

In my mind, the image represents John's savior complex. Soldier, Sherlock's best friend...The tree is his heart, strong, tall, stable. He's there for everyone. The piano, at the bottom, represents his own wants and needs that often get neglected in his need to help others.

I've always love the idea that Sherlock and John (or Holmes and Watson) could be able to play a duet, so this fill is particularly lovely to me. Greatly done
