Ha, you've discovered the Sherlock BBC equivalent of Sick!Wilson.

This drabble is short but sweet. I like the way you have Sherlock diagnose Watson's wistful hesitation. (Also, is it bad that "shiny, taut new strings" made my mind go to non-musical places?)

And the image that served as a prompt for this fic was pretty cool; I'd be interested to hear your take on exactly what that symbolizes in John's psyche.

My thoughts exactly! And both challenges are taking place this month. What is it about July that is so torturous for my favorite characters? ;)

Well, it *is* rated PG-13 for a reason. ;)

In my mind, the image represents John's savior complex. Soldier, Sherlock's best friend...The tree is his heart, strong, tall, stable. He's there for everyone. The piano, at the bottom, represents his own wants and needs that often get neglected in his need to help others.

You made me look for a duet of the moonlight sonata on youtube , so thank you for that.
I've always love the idea that Sherlock and John (or Holmes and Watson) could be able to play a duet, so this fill is particularly lovely to me. Greatly done

:) Glad it made you look for the duet and that you enjoyed it.

Much as I love the idea that Watson could play the piano, the fact that in BBC Sherlock John said he played the clarinet makes me long for the two of them to go undercover in a klezmer band.

Aw I should have gone for the clarinet! Thanks for the feedback. :)
