To be precise, Marcel Pagnol first made a film called Manon des Sources in 1953, which he then adapted into two novels: Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources, collectively known as L'Eau des Collines. Those books are beautiful by the way. In the late 80s, these were made again into two films by Claude Berri.

I hadn't seen Kari's question as I've got bored of those communities, but I'll answer it now. Marcel Pagnol did a number of films that are all set in the same Marseilles area. La Femme du Boulanger is probably the most famous one. I can't think of similar films made in recent times to be honest, apart from those mentionned above.

It does get confusing, with Pagnol having been a film maker as well. I just hope I don't confuse anyone when I'm doing my presentation, lol

hehe, you're right, I'm wrong. I must've misread something. I'm glad you mentioned it actually, or I wouldn't have checked up on it. It just seems a strange way to do it; make a film then write the book.
