If you follow my personal LJ, you'll know that I've been obsessed with the Harry Potter musicals. So, obviously, I had to make a list about them.
I apologize in advanced for the crappy quality of the pictures. I really wish there was a better version of the musicals online because the copy I have is all grainy. :(
Anyway,
DRACO
As soon as he went "Did someone say Draco Malfoy?" and touched himself, I adored him. He's just so.damn.funny. I love that he's played by a girl, I love that he's so over the top, I love that he's always falling or rolling on the floor, I love that he's obsessed with Pigfarts and that they never let him finish his song. It's def. my favorite character in the musicals. Lauren Lopez, you are amazing.
HARRY
You know how Harry (in the books) is such a good guy and he manages to survive out of luck, so he's really humble and nice? Well, not this Harry. This Harry is kind of an ass, but I love him. He's cocky, he has zero care for other people's feelings, but he sings and he's funny too and I just laugh at every single thing that he does. Especially when he sings to Ginny this amazing song and then he goes "do you like it? Do you think it can help a girl fall in love with me? Yeah? Cool, 'cause it's for Cho Chang!" Hahahahaha. WIN.
THE SONGS
The musical begins with Harry singing 'going back to Hogwarts', and as soon as Harry actually says those words, I fell completely in love with the whole thing. I just love the songs (if you don't, then why watch a musical, right?). So, here you can listen to really silly songs (like "Different as can Be" or "Stutter", love that one) or sentimental ones ("Not Alone", "To Have a Home") or just really kick-ass ones ("Voldemort is going down", "Granger Danger"). They're fun, and they make me want to sing-along.
THE CAST
Like in Firefly and Spaced, you can tell when the people involved in some shows or projects really do love what they're doing, they're friends and they're having the time of their lives while working together. I get the same feeling out of this cast, and when you read interviews you can see that they came together because they loved the project, they loved the idea of doing something fun with friends. I love that. I envy that.
RON
Ron Weasley is my favorite character in the books and in the movies, and although he's not my favorite in the musicals, he still holds an important place. Joey Richter did an amazing job, though he IS too mean to Ginny. I love the headband and the constant eating and the fear in some parts, because these guys are not superheroes, they're just kids trying to stay alive. He maintains the loyalty to Harry and Hermione, and that's what matters.
QUIRRELLMORT
I never even imagined that I would be writing that word, nor that I would pay a second more of attention to the strange relationship that was Quirrell and Voldemort. I hadn't considered how it was for the Professor to live with the Dark Lord on the back of his head, and the way it is explored in the musical is just so perfect. It's funny and awkward and strange and insane. They're definitely the pair to ship and watch, at least in the first musical.
THE JOKES
It's simple humor, sure, but what I love more about it does take things from the books, things we as fans have been making fun of and cracking jokes about, and turn them into part of the plot. I mean, come on, Draco being a girl and, in the sequel, the guys not knowing how to say Hermione's name? Brilliant. It's a funny, not pretencious show, and that's why you like these people and these jokes and this musical. Simple as that.
REFRESHING
As an adaptation, I really love this. The changes they decided to make to the story, although they respect canon (and then you can tell they love the story and it makes you love them even more), the changes to the characters, including things from fandom and jokes from other movies and shows, it's really refreshing. It doesn't make you mad, it's not unsulting to fans, it's what you talk about with friends when you make up stories about these characters, it feels like something you could've done and that makes it better.
THE SEQUEL
Just when you thought these guys had come up with one brilliant idea, they had to go and top it with a sequel. So what's in it? UMBRIDGE. The funniest rendition I've seen of her ever. We also get Lupin and Sirius, Lucius, more Gryffindors and some really funny explanations for things we saw in the first part.

GOING BACK TO HOGWARTS
The very first time I watched the musical, I couldn't stop singing this one. I went to bed and when I woke up, I was still singing "back to witches and wizards and magical beasts". So I pretty much went back to it and watched it over and over and over again, thinking I'd be able to get it out of my system. I still haven't been able to get it completely out of my head, I just love it. The lyrics are amazing, the music is fantastic, it's such a brilliant way to introduce the show and the characters and how different/alike they are to the original ones. It's my favorite song and my favorite scene in both musicals. Considering the songs, as a unit, are great and the scenes are pretty much kick-ass, you can understand how much I simply adore this.
I got the .gifs from google images, btw. If you made them, let me know and I'll give you credit right here
