David: Maybe I've been duped by living in Connecticut the past five years, but Red Sox-Yankees inspires a whole new level of intensity, hate and contempt. Giants-Dodgers is like seeing your wife get a peck on the cheek from your boss at the company Christmas party; Yankees-Red Sox is coming home early from work and seeing the mailman's truck in ( Read more... )

i been hollering about jim caple's point for YEARS now. it is the BEST OF ALL RIVALRIES.

we got a thing, i can deal with the giants finishing second-to-worse, as long as the dodgers are in the cellar. that is enough to get me through the off-season. the dodgers are punks and smelly and smelly punks and when i was a kid, i learned to swear by chanting 'fuck LA' at the stick.

this, by the way:

and then I want him coming up in the bottom of the ninth inning and blasting a Gagne fastball into McCovey Cove to win the NLCS.

gave a kid goosebumps and a silly grin.

he is hurtING. it is mental anguish. it is the kind of freakishly transparent psychological collapse that i. fucking. LIVE FOR.

he totally folded, man, he got to 17 (where he has been, by the way, for about a fucking month now), and the possibility of the cy loomed large and he utterly choked.

SWISH. CAUGHT LOOKING FOR THE SECOND OUT IS NOT GOING TO ENDEAR YOU TO BOBBY, SO GET IT RIGHT NEXT TIME.

*waves* *randomily found you*

Also, you get the same thing with the Mets/Yankee rivalry. I know for a fact that I shudder when people in Met stuff walk by. Even though I was a Met fan for a year or so when Shane Spencer was on the team. But, still, as a Yankee fan you see a big fat guy in a stained "Mr. Met" head shirt walk by and you want to walk on the other side of the street to get away from him.
