Help needed from the LJ hive mind

So P's cat has been peeing all over the basement recently. Including on over a third of our books.

We know how to get the smell out of the carpet, but does anyone have any suggestions for saving the books?

We are just going to trash a lot of them, but some of them are not replaceable.

My first try would be Febreeze and sunshine or vinegar and sunshine.
