Madara had little opinion of the "artistic" ninja, merely seeing him as just another member Akatsuki could easily do without - Tobi was inappropriately enamoured with the guy. So of course, as he lounged about in the tree, the masked nin was itching to start up another pointless conversation to break the silence; Deidara never seemed fond of this idea. How strange!

In fact, Tobi was just about to speak, when he sensed something. Yes, there was definitely a presence that reverberated through the cold, still air; Madara was exceptional in his abilities. Unexpected. Tobi shifted, sitting up and glancing around akin to a dog that had just picked up some interesting scent. It was a familiarity that was not pleasant at all. And yet, once it made itself more obvious, the two minds would settle on a feeling that it was meant to happen, that this coming event was inevitable. Something like that.

Tobi suddenly descended from the tree in a quick jump, landing on the ground in a crouch not far from his partner.

The process of the conjoined teleportation was a bit strange, but impressive. So he and Ash would eventually be taking a little trip to that world. Lovely.

It was strange really. Orochimaru found himself exceedingly calmed by the situation, despite the rather unfortunate outcome of Tobi and his last encounter. Perhaps it was due to the fact that he actually had "faith" in his "comrades'" abilities. Though, when it came down to it, he was simply using them for that factor alone. Everyone seemed prepared enough.

Before he knew it, he was staring out at the familiar figure of the Akatsuki. His partner was there this time around. Interesting. The snake's eyes briefly shifted to Gaara. Oh yes, this one would be taking care of that distraction. He stood where he was, realizing that given their closeness (a good yard or so back), both nin would most likely sense their chakra ( ... )

Surprising the enemy is a wonderful tactic used in helping to overthrow the opponent. Despite whatever kind of sensing capabilities those two had, surely the reactions to the surprise would be slow ( ... )

Sakon looked down, before back up at the one in charge. And nodded slightly before dissapearing away, with Ukon litterally trailing behind. He Snapped his finger at his side, a kunai appeared ready to be used and he wasted no time in throwing it. His aim was for the two Akatsuki shinobi up ahead as he neared their area of combat. At the given chance of cover, Ukon had hidden himself well nearby. A double distraction as one might put it, and it was triple that if you included the extra touch their Lord had put in for them.

The two didn't have to converse to come up with a plan. They knew by body language just exactly what to do at the right moment. And when the signal called for it, Ukon would jump out and act as a clone of the sorts. In ways, the duo were underestimating their opponents. But it didn't matter, they were clearly only distractions.

Yet it didn't stop Sakon from wanting to toy around. Nor did it put an end to Ukon wanting to hurry with the job and get it over with.

It seemed as though most of his other comrades preferred to focus their attention on the Akatsuki ninja with the orange mask, leaving Gaara to face the blond opponent that he knew all too well from their previous fight. He noticed that Orochimaru was giving signals and instructions to their fellow allies, but the snake Sannin had not told Gaara what he wanted him to do... and so the red-haired ninja figured he would act on his own unless otherwise requested.

Not one for acting in a treacherous or backhanded manner, he swiftly descended toward Deidara's position to announce his presence, so to speak, while the cork dislodged itself from his gourd and the sand inside was waiting to come out at their master's command.

So this is what it was coming down to. No heed was paid to his partner, instead that so inappropriately-placed power that "Tobi" contained within that was not truly his, but Madara's, was beginning to shine through. Surely no shinobi as idiotic as Tobi could have mastered such high-caliber skill.

The Sharingan lit up the darkness of the mask, blazing through the hole before his eye. That red pinpointed with a pupil, decorated with the intricate design of a Mangekyou lying in wait that was all his own. Oh, he didn't want to use that again, not against multiple foes. Seems he'd have to pick them off one by one.

The snakes were easy to evade, and the kunai thrown was another simple matter - far too slow for the likes of of this elite shinobi. Madara had to smirk a bit; this had to be some sort of foreplay. Or perhaps Orochimaru really was as awful as he appeared to have become; that would be a disappointment. What was a surprise was the sudden teleportation of the man with strange platinum-blond hair ( ... )

Orochimaru watched the scene unfold from the same position he was in before. His eyes danced over the scene, as if he were delightedly pulling the strings of marionettes from above the stage, watching the scene unfold. He had to restrain himself from immediately stepping in. It was all so comical! Though, as his gaze shifted to the events between Ash and Tobi playing out, the lightheartedness he felt hardened a little. There was a reason he was here ( ... )

He muttered the name of his opponent inside his mind only, and then calmly gazed at Deidara with little to no reaction on his expression. Gaara didn't see any point in wasting time with greetings, and it wasn't like they were acquaintances or anything resembling such a bond.

Once Gaara was grounded, the tiny grains swiftly left his gourd and began to swirl around their wielder in a protective ring. He remembered full well how the blond Akatsuki ninja had managed to defeat him in the previous fight, and he certainly had no intentions to make the same mistake.

Gaara was way too quiet. That was the problem with the last fight they had too. Deidara really did enjoy hearing the reactions of his opponents, but at the same time, a silent battle made best in regards to strategy. He didn't expect the fight with the Sand nin to be an easy one. In fact, he was a bit peeved by Tobi's preoccupation. Though, his partner was fighting Orochimaru.

Damnit.

"You're not going to be as fun as one of the legendary Sannin," Deidara muttered, tossing one of his newly made clay balls up and then catching it. "But I guess you'll do."

That said, he snapped his wrist forward, throwing the first clay ball toward the ground at Gaara's feet. He merely want to start out with a little buzz to... heh, cloud things up.

There was no need for Gaara to restrain himself on this terrain, not when he didn't need to worry about the safety of his people, and surely, his allies would be able to take care of themselves in this instance.

"Hrmp." Gaara scoffed lightly, his eyes watching the blond ninja acutely as he tossed the little clay ball up and down, like he was playing a game instead of being engaged in a fight.

Seeing the projectile come toward his position, the redhead jumped back out of the way, and when the clay ball exploded on the ground, his sand came together to form a thin shield - no need to use more chakra than necessary, after all.

Responding to the attack, Gaara lashed his arm out toward Deidara to send a thin stream of sand flying through the air, heading right for him.

The visible eye narrowed, stuck on the blonde for perhaps a moment too long, for he had forgotten about Orochimaru's speed.

He had begun to turn, halfway to looking at what was at his back when the "blade" struck across one shoulder, an impact he hadn't braced for and thus took the hit in its full strength. An audible grunt of pain followed this, his body slammed further toward the ground and tensed wildly from the slash. Already he could feel blood flowing, seeping into the dark cloth of his sleeve as one black-gloved hand clutched at the spot. A growl, likely unheard.

Madara was not one to lose control of a situation. The pain turned to irritance, and Tobi performed a fast seal to counterattack - another Fire Release, this one a variation of the Uchiha clan's fireball-like jutsu, this one more a concentrated spiral of flames aimed at the snakelike ninja. Immediately after that shot the masked nin would teleport, off to the side of Orochimaru, standing yet barely concealing his mounting anger at having been hit.

Oh my, partners really were such distractions. It was truly silly how such a "talented" young individual like Tobi was partnered up with the babbling blond bimbo. Oh well. Orochimaru wasn't one to really question or care much about the Akatsuki's methods ( ... )

The sudden fling of the arm did catch him off guard; he was expecting a swift counter at any second, thus when Orochimaru attempted to strike the hit was only half-taken. Tobi ducked below the bizarrely stretched appendage and shot toward his opponent, barely touching the ground as he advanced. Despite everyone else who seemed to be idling about the battlefield at this speed, his focus was so on the Sannin that any collateral he may have took was ignored. The Uchiha had already beaten this irritating snake twice before - third time's a charm, right?

Quite suddenly a concentrated amount of fire chakra was manufactured in both hands, which were used to slam into Orochimaru's body and cling tightly, directing a massive amount into him.

Orochimaru beamed gleefully as he noted his attack was at the very least, partially successful. He knew it was only a matter of time before Tobi would break out of his shell and pull out something exciting. This time around, he was prepared for anything. Devouring himself in his own gloating, he was blindsited by the next attack.

Before he could provide himself with a proper defensive stance or block, he felt the full effect of Tobi quite literally HURLING his body at him. The Sannin fell to the ground, but this time, made no attempt at pushing Tobi off. Yes, he was indeed feeling weak from the attack, but he managed to grip onto the Akatsuki member's shoulders. He wouldn't get away. He shifted his weight to one side, and used it as momentum to switch positions, so that he was now straddling Tobi.

Orochimaru wanted to be the first... the first to see how this boy really was ( ... )
