Heidi sat at the kitchen table waiting for her husband to come home from work. After spending the day with her children Nathan's mother kindly agreed to taking the boys off her hands for the evening so that she and Nathan could celebrate her birthday in peace

Peter groaned and sat up, and knocked everything off his bedside table fumbling around for it. He scrutinized the caller ID with sleepy eyes, not really in the mood to deal with telemarketers or bill collectors or his mother or Nathan --
Heidi? She didn't call him all that often! Hopefully there was nothing wrong --
Oh, shit. Shit!
The memory of what had happened the night before with her only bolstered his worry into full-blown panic. What if Nathan had discovered what they'd done in his absence? It hadn't escaped him that he had left almost all of his clothes on her sofa, and he was pretty sure he'd been wearing his watch when he'd left his apartment earlier in the day.
"Hey, Heidi," he said, trying not to let any of that come through in his voice. "Is everything okay?"

"Nathan had a rough night but I think he's going to come out the other side a better man. He says he's done Peter, with the alcohol and the interns and everything. I really want to believe him." She sighed. "You know where this is going, you can probably hear it in my voice. I hope you're not too mad."

"Nathan!" Heidi cried out, she loved it when he got like this, it felt like they were the only two people in existence. She moaned and bit her lip because while she wanted to be loud, Heidi knew too much noise would wake their children and she couldn't have that. "Love you," Heidi told Nathan, kissing him deeply. A few strokes later and it was over, to say she was disappointed was an understatement but she supposed she couldn't really blame Nathan, he had been so worked up she was surprised he had lasted that that long. She met his eyes. "Doing okay there, stud?"

"Babe, it's okay. Maybe next time I'll seduce you." While it had been a valiant effort, Heidi believed that she would do a much better job and that if she were the in control one, Nathan would last longer. Heidi squeaked when Nathan pulled her close, if she was honest she didn't need his cock, while it was very nice, his mouth and hands were more than enough to get her off.
"Nathan!" Heidi cried out as she came against his fingers, her body shaking from the sensation. "God, you were always so good at that." She kissed him fiercely, smiling. "Did I wear you out?" She wrapped her arm around him, snuggling into him. "I'm going to put that down as a success." She hoped he thought so too.

Please, Peter. Don't die on your birthday, Nathan thought desperately, biting back tears that threatened to come, his hands shaking badly. He forced himself to concentrate on parking the car without smashing into anything ( ... )

It was possible Peter’s healing ability had re-manifested itself, wasn’t it? Nathan could just imagine Peter yanking out his IV lines and jumping out a window in his hospital gown, and nurses with confused looks on their faces when they came in and found their charge had literally flown the coop. Peter had never been one for subtlety.
Then why would he need a ride? He could just teleport right back home if he wanted.Another thing occurred to him just then, something much more problematic ( ... )

"If my birthday present feels this good, I wonder how my Christmas present's gonna be," Peter sighed, fully immersed in his memory. A fantasy, really. Nathan had made it absolutely clear that the secret they had shared was nothing more to him now than a liability. They were brothers, and it was wrong, and it was dangerous. Nathan needed to wash his hands of it, of him, the one blemish on Nathan’s otherwise perfect life. Peter’s fear had finally been realized. Nathan no longer needed him ( ... )

Heidi looked shaken and stressed, but Nathan only half-noticed it thanks to the adrenaline and the liquor running through his bloodstream. His mother was really a piece of work sometimes.
"Where the hell have you been? I go out to the kitchen because it’s way too quiet in there, and there’s a Goddamned mess all over the table and the floor and you and Peter are nowhere to be found? Why is your hair wet? I thought you showered this morning,” Nathan said, alarm bells starting in the back of his mind, remembering what Ma had said to him before she’d kissed her grandsons and left.
Maybe there was something to his mother’s psychic bullshit after all. Nathan’s memory of the morning after Heidi’s birthday was fuzzy at best; he’d come home from a tryst with his secretary, and Heidi had locked him out of his own damn bedroom. What had she been doing in there?
