For anyone who wants to see pictures from the Chattanooga/Nashville trip, here's the link.

No pictures in the actual show, no cameras allowed and all. Sorry kids. The pictures are mostly from the Chattanooga aquarium and the Nashville Parthenon...and there's one of me in the Country Music Hall of Fame, One of the Wiener mobile (which, by the way, ( Read more... )

Am I the only advocate for you all moving to DC???

Jobs and finances be damned!

No no. Ryan and I both very much want to move to DC. I'd be okay with damning the finances, as long as jobs were worked out...and possibly vice versa. Hopefully I'll get into the MA program though...truthfully an MA is all I really need in this field, even for teaching. I guess I'm just a bit of a title whore, wanting to go all the way through to the PhD.

You should speak to Mrs Bean, who is totally okay with ABD.

Isn't the MA program easier to get into? I can't see why they wouldn't let you in... you're some kind of awesome!

Yeah. I think I should have a definite spot in the MA program. They take more students. In general the coursework is considered easier. It's less of a commitment time wise. Oh and they get money out of you (they only accepted 4 people into the PhD program because they like to give all their PhD candidates full funding). So I really really really think I'll get into the MA and am trying to just not fret about it...but if there's one thing I am, it's a fretter. So I spend quite a bit of time biting my nails and singing "Wait a Minute Mister Postman" in my head.

1. rocky said the b&s show here was shitty... but i think it was because of the crowd. glad to hear yours was amazing.
2. let's watch brain candy now.
3. isnt the JD distillery in a dry county?
4. i want to come to FL soon... and was planning on driving down at the end of the month so i could hit jax & gaines (if i fly, i have no car when i get to FL).. but no one wants to go with me. and the date just changed of the main reason i wanted to come and blah blah blah now it's all inconvenient.

the JD distillery is in a dry county. good for you to know that...apparently they just recently got a law passed (which they've been trying to get passed for like 5 years) that allows the distillery to sell JD. however, you still are not allowed to consume any of it, so no whiskey tasting.

you know you can get a whole barrel of the stuff for around $9k...you get to keep the barrel. if i ever have a lot of money, i am going to get you one...keep in mind i probably will never ever have a lot of money. but if i do.

look, if you win the lottery, i want a barrel of jameson. not jack. okay?
and can you buy me a fountain soda machine that only has gingerale to go with it?
thanks.

Fountain gingerale sucks. If I actually won the lottery, I'd buy you several cases of Blenheim gingerale to go with your Jameson...though I don't know if you can buy Jameson by the barrel. I'm sure if some crazy new money lotto winner told them they wanted to toss somewhere in the realm of 10-15k at them for a barrel, they'd do it...but I'm just saying...I think it's amazing that at a place like JD they actually market that.

I'm also sorry about your rejections. I feel the same way about wanting to just get the PhD, rather than going through a Masters program (most likely without funding) and then having to go through all the application processes again in 2 years to do the PhD anyway ( ... )
