For Reid, seeing the charred barn up close for the first time since the fire hammered home just how much he and Luke had been in danger. He was lucky only his hands were injured. Regret is definitely not a bad thing in this case. I don't want it to cloud Reid's life forever, but without it, he wouldn't really learn much about himself.
Jack hasn't been in this story much, and, you know, I've never given much consideration to whether he and Reid could be friends. In this story, yes. Reid needs friends, so let's give him a few. But if this were canon? Well...maybe they'd bond over their love of sports.
And I agree, Reid's circle of friends was too small. If he could get past Luke's blackmail, and surely he heard about a few of the skeletons in Katie's closet, then I suspect there were a few more Oakdale residents out there who might have appreciated Reid...and who he wouldn't think was completely nuts.

I loved that you gave us an emotional Reid and a very strong Luke.
Reid is right that it is time that someone took care of Luke.
I hope Luke will let Reid help.
I am glad Reid was getting friendly and having fun with Jack.
But now you've got me worried about Julian.
Thanks for another great chapter.

Their honest conversation at the barn, and how they're obviously affected with each other presence.
And then there's Jack. I'm so glad he's nice to Reid and thankful for what he did for Luke. Love the talk about Emma's veggie vengeance :-).
Great great update!

Thoroughly enjoyed Jack in this chapter and Emma's veggie punishments. My kids would be hollering up a storm.
