My Stardust Melody, Epilogue

It was a warm first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs. Luke had spent most of it in the barns behind the racetrack with Midnight and Serendipity. Andy watched over the horses like a mother hawk guarding her young. Luke spoke to their jockeys, Edgar and Roberto, trying to impart whatever wisdom he’d gained about these horses. Congratulations on the completion of this project. I am stunned at what a complex tale you were able to weave. It's not often we are able to see such strong character growth and development. I am so thankful that patience IS one of my better events. This was a very satisfying read. Thank you soooooooooo much for your persistence and careful attention to detail for 49 wonderful chapters.

I had a feeling it would be Midnight and Serendipity in the end.

And thank you for sticking with this for 49 long chapters--I know it could be a difficult ride at times. Hurray for patience!

No way was some other nag going to usurp Midnight and Serendipity in the end...

And now comes the moment when lemondrop and petuniagirl argue like school children over who gets what credit. Just kidding. But I'm tempted, very tempted, to make a list of every passage you added something to. You deserve a ton of credit. *points finger at lemondrop34 and declares, "She did it!"*

So, I'm amazingly flattered by everything you just said above. For once, I'll try not to downplay or explain things away, and just say with heartfelt sincerity, "Thank you."

And I, too, was thinking about this fic this morning. I think the most honest thing to say is that you turned working on this fic from what was quickly becoming just labor to a labor of love. After about five chapters or so of working with you, I realized that I'd write this fic and finish it even if the only reader was you. (And given the angst, I thought there was a chance...) It was that much fun and that much of a learning experience for me to work with you.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

BTW: I decided that "conjugal visit" really should be a FFF prompt. I think I'll suggest it this Friday.
