I can? *googles* Yay! I've been googling all morning to get rid of annoyances.

Now if I only could get rid of the icky effects when opening/closing windows, and learn how to navigate... and if only we had a sysadmin with windows competency who could fix the network configuration so that I can access our network drives. Our win-sysadmin left a couple of months ago and our linux-sysadmin looks just as frustrated and lost as I do when he looks at Vista.

Use a different theme than Aero, like windows classic which looks just like Win2k. For accessing the network drives if they're on Samba you might have to use 192.168.1.1\User (changing the IP to match the servers), I had this problem when getting my vista machine to access my mac's exported drives

Logging in to the domain and not just the computer also helps... It wasn't as clear as in Win XP that I hadn't done that.

I think I got rid of a lot of animations using the accessibility setting "turn of unnecessary animations".
