Title: Nice Day for a White Wedding. Word Count: A double-dozen over 7,000 Disclaimer: James and Lily belong to JKR. I just like trying to relieve James of his shirt!
Are you continuing it?? Another one-off story covering that would be more likely. I'm outlining the couple of thoughts I've had. When I've got a couple more, I'll join the dots (so-to-speak ) and post it.
Whenever I come back to read this I'm always terrified that you've deleted the entries, or something; I hope that never happens, and I have to tell you this now, because I think this is brilliantly, wonderfully written - in-character, warm, very genuine, and the kind of change I could fully accept. Hard to come by one-shots that capture that radical a change in their relationship, and this one is perfectly done. :D
*g* No, I won't be deleting anything. I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed my take on James and Lily, and thank you for the warm glow and silly grin you gave me this morning, reading your comments!
I can now add that there is a companion piece to this fic, posted here, with my other marauder stuff. It's over on Dreamwidth but it's easy to log in on open ID should you wish to comment. NDFAWW is one post over there, which I love. :D
This is the most convincing story that I've ever read about the mysteries of how Lily Evans came to give James Potter a chance! They seem in character and age appropriate. The details about the Wizard chapel and the wedding ceremony are intriguing. I'd love to read more about that. Also, the backstory about the Potters and both generations of Longbottoms. Truly enthralling entertainment!
Well, thank you muchly! I'm very gratified that you find James and Lily to fit with what we knew from canon --this was written before the revelations in the last book-- as I try hard to show them as real people. Filling in the blanks about the how and the why is great fun for me. :)

Sorry, but I've tried unsuccessfully to comment on Thawing several times without success at dreamwidth so this is your comment for it: It took me a while to get back here to read your companion piece to Nice Day for a White Wedding but it was worth the wait. I adore interesting uses of magic and magical history so grandma and the fox fur are right up my alley. It's so nice to read about Alice and Frank as young and healthy too. I adore the way you write James as well. It's easy to see how you eventually caught the fair Lily!
