Well....

Actually the day fater should be hte holiday.. more of a recovery day.. But you also have to ask who just watches for the cermercials? So yeah I try to catch it, but if I am busy or it is just a crappy game I turn it off and watch something or do something else...

Huh. Well, I don't watch it and my family doesn't make a big deal out of it (my dad watches it, but just like a regular game...) but I know some people get over the top about it.

I think that for the country as a whole, it's become a holiday. Not in the sense of Christmas or Easter or other holidays which involve a lot of family togetherness, holiday foods and festivities of that sort, but in the sense of New Years' Eve: a time for people to party, scream at the top of their lungs and drink heavily. Of course, there are plenty of National holidays that allegedly have meaning but don't get celebrated. Patriot's Day, anyone? (AKA 9/11)

So in conclusion: Super Bowl is a holiday, just not in the sense that many people think of holidays. More an excuse to get drunk and have fistfights with your friends, family and neighbors.

Oooh, I like your explanation. Would you mind if you happen to get quoted in the article my boss is planning on writing? He might like your explanation too.

I wouldn't mind at all. XD But if I get quoted you have to get me a copy of the War Cry so that I can show it to my family and be like SEE THIS IS WHAT IT'S LIKE WHEN YOU KNOW PEOPLE. XDDD
