You can never have too many terry towelling nappies. Half of them went out of circulation immediately to cover any surface B lies on - both my feeding stations, change table, bassinet, carry cot, and a floating one for people's shoulders ( Read more... )

Yes, this does all sound familiar! Distant memories, some of them... Things do get better - even the love :)

Oh yes, and I second the "never can have too many cloth wipes". I'm still using our old wipes for faces and hands. Cut up towels, overlocked around the edges make great wipes - I'm happy to do the overlocking, if you have any old towels you want converted :)

And here a comment from a still non-enbabied friend. (non-enbabied - hilarious!)
Absolutely lovely post and somewhat of a reality check for those still believing the cutesy propaganda out there about how rosy life with a child is. And even if some of us think we have fairly realistic ideas of life as a parent I am quite convinced that there are things that you just don't get until you're there.

Best of luck with everything and may the Sandman grant you and little B some extra sleep. :-)

Thanks for writing this. It really illustrates to me the realities of what we are in for. So exciting though!!

I'm pretty sure my parents still had some cloth nappies when we were packing up the house a couple of months ago. They've been used as cloths/rags/whatever even after three kids.
To me it seems like you are doing remarkably well. Yes, every single little thing you do all of a sudden takes up a lot more spoons than it used to, and you're not getting anything like normal sleep, and there are lots of things you have to do now that you've never had to worry about before, but you're all still alive, still healthy, still coherent enough to write this post, still (apparently) sane.. You're working really hard but you're able to do what you need to do. Take it from someone else who knows, that's no mean feat ( ... )
