If anyone can get to Triple R (corner of Nicholson & Blyth Streets, East Brunswick; end of 96 tram line) with new toiletries before 6pm this evening, Australian feminist blog 'The Dawn Chorus' is organising collection of the following for bushfire victims

WA Police are organising a shipment of donations to be taken across to Victoria. I think it's being organised with help from VicPol and TOLL group are donating the transport. *yes*

Buuuut... what I wanted to let you know was that I walked proudly across the Parade Ground this afternoon, armed with packs of tampons and sanitary napkins, to make my donation in our collection box. Yes, it's a little weird having mostly male officers looking at you funny as you walk through the cafeteria to get to the donations box... but it was rewarding to see the women smiling proudly!

I think I'll get some more supplies tonight - they were talking about hairbrushes on the news.

Good for you! These things get forgotten in the obvious lists like food, blankets, jumpers, but they're pretty crucial. I'll be really impressed when I see a man donating a box of tampons!
