If I had two wishes I could make this holiday season, the first would be for all the children of the world to join hands and sing in the spirit of harmony and peace. And the second would be ( Read more... )

It frightens me to imagine what you will be like when you are a cynical old man.

Heh. I was behind you until you said Olivia Wilde. She has creepy dead eyes, man. ;-)

I suppose if you're in a position to help me get any of those wishes to happen, I can compromise on Wilde ;-)

I don't think you can chide others for their unoriginality and then rip off an old SNL monologue.

I wasn't chiding originality. More the feel-good nature of holiday-themed memes.

I've partaken in a meme or two over the years. Mostly they irritate me because it seems like one giant group backrub (or, insert your more crass term here). If people want to feel better about themselves, they can just ask for compliments, not vail them in "post this and I'll say something nice about you so you can say something nice about me!" or some such nonsense.

Of course, this perspective comes from me growing out of that kind of mentality, so I suppose I feel like I'm looking at my younger, more loser filled self.

It occurs to me that, based on the "we could all die at any moment" argument, the orgasm should just stay on top all the way through except for one other point, once you have complete power over all living beings, the rest of the wishes are kind of moot. So really you want peace and love and harmony and orgasms and the most efficient way to do that is complete world dominance.

It's the rational choice, sure, but I could see some sort of cognitive bias being at play for a lot of people, simply because of the mental leap you have to make to equate that level of power with getting sex and money and all the other good stuff.

There's a mental leap there? Isn't that the POINT of that kind of power?
