New babies

OK, most of you should know my childfree status at this point. But I know some of you guys have kids, and I'm kind of wondering about an etiquette thing. Lately it seems like tons of people are having babies. So, when you have a baby, some people send out birth announcements, I suppose. A cutesy card with a picture of the baby and vital statistics

I am terrible at the whole sending pictures thing to relatives much less friends. So to hear people are sending you this birth announcement to whom you don't even know is quite bizzare.

I would guess that they got excited in buying the package thing while in the hospital (when the photographer comes around - they do that here in AZ) that they had so many so figure to send 'em out to ANYONE they remotely know. Just sayin'.

I would not, however, send a gift of any sort to such persons. I would, if they included an email, send a brief note and let them know you received the unexpected card and congratulate them on going thru the birthing process.
