I bought a coffee and some fries at Burger King on Saturday, because I was about to go on a three-hour bus journey and needed something to keep me from dying of starvation before I got to the end of it. This cost three pounds and something, which is a rant all in itself. But anyway, this is how the transaction went

Well, yes, but this isn't a BK-specific rant. It's pointing out that, as things stand in London, one's change can quite easily consist of nearly 50% non-money, and that this is Taking The Piss on a grand scale.

Fair enough. I tend to use a debit card wherever possible though, but that's because I prefer using it to cash. Avoiding the situation you've mentioned is a bonus.

Yeah, I'll probably start using a card more often. I'd usually find cash more convenient for small purchases, but in situations like this, the card is much less hassle.
