Computer clearout part 3

Jan 06, 2010 22:47

It's time to get rid of some neat stuff (mainly vintage Unix workstation hardware) that I'm never realistically going to have time to use. Leave me a comment if any of it is any use to you!
  • SGI Indy with 17" monitor. Needs a standard PS/2 keyboard and mouse, which I can probably supply if necessary. Currently running some old version of Debian ( Read more... )

You know i still want that basic pc you sorted out for me, don't you? I just don't seem to have had the opportunity to take it off your hands yet!

Is the cd drive something i could plug into my eee?

OK, when's a good time to bring this PC round?

As for the external CD drive, I am pretty sure it wouldn't work with the Eee, at least not without involving a substantial amount of extra hardware :(

What are you up to today? I can't really come out to play as i have a lot of work to do, but if you fancied popping round for an hour and a cuppa that would be nice :)

Is the keyboard a model M?

Not that I want it. Well I would if it is a model M, but I am not just flying over the channel to pick that up. However I am curious which other keyboards would be described like that.

Typed on a model M connected to the ps2 plug on a core i7 motherboard

I'm guessing it's some sort of clone of the Model M. It's a "clicky" keyboard, with individually-sprung keyswitches.

The sticker on the back says:

Manufactured by NTC
Model no. KB-6153EA
For 8088 & 80286
Enhanced 102 keys
Assembly in Malaysia

It has a UK layout (£ sign above the 3, etc) except that the # key is between the = key and the backspace key, instead of between the , key and the enter key. The backspace key is smaller, to make room.

Playing about with it again makes me want to keep it.

I'd be very happy to offer a new home to the keyboard! :)

OK, I will either bring it to the pub or drop it off at the batflat :)
