[PGSM Rewatch] Acts 1-5

Oct 07, 2010 10:27

So I'm doing a massive review of the various Sailor Moon versions. PGSM is up first! As I go, I'm taking notes for myself on the various histories, personalities, and powers of the main characters and I'll be posting about things that catch my attention.

How far does senshi power go? )

It'll all be fun! Though when I get around to the anime, I'll probably only do the subs. The dub bothers me these days. *crosses fingers for the possibility of a re-dubbing* A new translation of the manga would be nice, too.

I never saw S or SuperS dubbed, but I figure since I have DVDs now, I might as well watch 'em once... I don't care what everyone says, DiC did a way better dub job. Even if it was less accurate.

AND PS NEVER WATCHING S OR SUPERS DUB AGAIN

Let's just say any of the dub is better than the horror that was almost unleashed with 'Saban Moon'.

Yeah amy is major dark in pgsm! And Mars too. They were always strng in the othergenres...but in PGSM Mercury has enough issues to have her ownseries, lol. I loved her actress, it's a shame she had to disappear for a while. But now that she's re-emerged I hope to see her in a drama again <3

She's been in a few commercials, and actually has had a couple very small roles in recent dramas, including one... coming up? a short time ago? Interestingly enough, Kunzite's actor is also in it... and the characters were in a relationship. XD

The thing with Usagi sensing Naru was in danger was just a throwback to both the anime and the manga (I think) where her odango jewel cover things picked up on the sound of Naru being in trouble.

I always felt they were just doing a homage or trying to do an adaptation, even if that power is never seen again in any version of the series.

I figure that's probably the reason for the writers. I'm just trying to make it make sense in-universe, if possible. /is a dork You're right, though; it may just be a shout-out.

Of course, shout-outs can be awesome. Ami breaking a hole into the Dark Kingdom in act 3? Hell, yes. (And I'm assuming just a throwback to locating Usagi with the computer in other versions, or possibly sliiiightly related to the spacial power she used to protect Crown in manga.)
