Jack smiled at Candy from his position on the couch. He looked tired, with a few more healing bruises than usual, but otherwise he remained unchanged. "Yeah. I got busy, had to take over running things when my boss went AWOL for a while."

"I wasn't sure you were going to come back," she admitted. Neither of them had a clue what their relationship was, and she had thought maybe he'd just drifted away from her. She set everything down and perched herself on the arm of the couch. "How are you? It's been too long."

"I didn't know if I was going to make it back this time myself," Jack said frankly. He'd received a few new scars in the time he had been away, and most of them were in near fatal areas. "For the most part, I'm tired. I've also been missin' you terribly."
