While I broadly agree, I would point to something genuinely awful on the writing front (shout at the screen stuff) for contrast and perspective. Say, Warehouse 13 after season 1. Fvcking awful writing (ruining what could be so much fun).
Yeah people tend to notice really obviously bad stuff more though. When everyone goes on about how amazing something is but it has kind of subtle gross creepiness in it it can actually be more frustrating because if even the good stuff is bad you either have to give up on entertainment or watch the least awful and still be sitting there getting pissed off - and then see people who should know better praising it as totally progressive and awesome.
