The intention of art

In class to day we discused peoples intentions. Such as if someone painted something but had no intention of showing it to anybody and kept it in their closet is it still art? Well someone used this as an example if you have a nuclear bomb hidden in your closet that you tell no one about and intend never to use is it still a nuclear bomb ( Read more... )

Because we know certain countries *coughAmericacouh* would, and have, used them. As well as other countries... North Korea, India, Pakistan.

Besides, governments that have weapons merely for "deterrent" purposes... governments change, and just because one gov't has one type of ideology, doesn't mean another will. And ideologies, and political climates change over time.

It's a far more complex issue than your post, or my response, is making it out to be.

Is a painting really art if the person never intended it to be seen but when they died someone went and put it in an art gallery? this is what the question is about. The point is that with the bomb no matter the intentions it is always a weopon for even if you do not use it in your life time someone can find it and use it.
