I'm finally coming to terms with something that has bothered me for years. I think the thing that bothers me is not that I experienced unrequited love, but that I loved someone who loved me, and I turned him down until he could never be with me.

As Susan says, I hope I can be stronger next time.

By assuming that all humanity can be inferred to be one entity, I tend to think that the accomplishment of any one being is shared amongst us all. That also opens us up to the possibility that the feelings of one person are spread out amongst us. If electrons can do it, why can't we?

I'm in New Mexico. I'll be out west for the next five weeks. We've already been shot at and hailed on several times. This is not what I was expecting of New Mexico.

1) I went camping in Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina for five days so I've been missing for a while. It was wonderful.

2) I'll be in Tally on Monday night for the Decemberists concert.

3) I have a crush on someone I shouldn't have a crush on...again.

The band Stars has a lot of songs that relate to thoughts I have. One weird thing that I noticed today is that one of the songs is named "Your Ex-Lover is Dead". So I've just realized that I have a horrible double standard in the way I treat my guy friends versus how I treat my girl friends. I'm going to try to loosen up a little on that.

1) I got into Stanford, and I'm definitely going there to start working on my PhD in September...! I love the people there, I love the faculty, I might still get to go to Europe and probably Turkey, and possibly Antarctica, and so many people want me there. Everything there made sense. Today I leave for my interview at Stanford.

At times like this, I usually think back to my nine-year-old self. Back then I never would have imagined I would be doing this; any of this.

And I don't care what anyone says about Stanford, it still already holds amazing, crazy memories for me. I can, and will make the most of anywhere.
