One of the last times that I was at the the VSO, Stephanie Chow, Manager, Education & Community Programs for the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra told me that she had mentioned me in an article for the Georgia Straight. After a little bit of internet detective work, I give you her excerpt. Those of you who went with me to see Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique are the "other goth friends" :p (lady_bodom and pretty_light to name a couple)

Chow, 31, spearheaded the VSO's Access Pass when she joined the organization in 2002. It complements a range of programming for elementary- and high-school students, including the Kids' Koncerts series and the Symphonic Encounters open rehearsals. Chow recalls that during the first year of the ticket offer, some students from Douglas College had come to watch a rehearsal of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 2.

"There was this skateboarder goth guy who was studying composition that was so blown away by the work that he actually signed up for the Access Pass and he went to all three of the [Mahler] concerts," she says.

"That's hard-core," Gove interjects with a chuckle.

"And then I saw him last year," Chow continues, "and he was there with the rest of his other goth friends--and we're talking full-on black, the nose ring, everything--and they had all come in on a Sunday, actually, to purchase tickets....To me, that's an incredible result."
