Whenever you hear someone start of by talking about how essential free speech is to society, always wait for the 'but':

Typical dickheaded right-wing response. Gee, David, don't think it might have something to do with all the cuts you're making that are just screwing over the ordinary Brit in favour of the rich ones, just like your teabag cousins in America want to do?

The free flow of information is only a problem to liars, loons, and despots. Which is it, David, all three at one go?

Typical dickheaded right-wing response.

I'm going to repeat this, with emphasis:

"Free speech is central to our democracy, but so is public safety and security," said Ivan Lewis, the shadow secretary of culture in the House of Commons, according to London's Guardian newspaper. "We support the government's decision to undertake a review of whether measures are necessary to prevent the abuse of social media by those who organize and participate in criminal activities."

I'm left with two conclusions:

1. You noticed that the leftists are just as eager to crush free speech but chose to ignore it.
2. You think the Labour party is right-wing.

3. Didn't properly read the whole last paragraph. Missed the "shadow" bit.

Fuck, so now in Britain both sides have gone 'round the bend. (Of course, Blair was a clue, but still....) Sigh.

You are doing this "religious partisanship" thing ALL wrong.

Step 1 is to assume that your "team" can never do anything wrong, ever ever ever, and the other "team" can never do anything right, ever ever ever.

Step 2 is to keep repeating that to yourself over and over and over until you are firmly and unshakably convinced that it is true.

It doesn't work to do step 2 if you're willing to waver so quickly on step 1.

You're going to get kicked out of your church!

well i believe both parties have members of parliament facing jail for twiddling their expenses, so its really just an issue of who's in power and can steal and think they can get away with it...when the leadership is corrupt and amoral and greedy, the people who look for leaders will follow their example...

and shutting down the social media...sounds like china, egypt, russia, iran, north korea, now the UK...great job, parliament...great footsteps you are following in

Waste of time for me to wait for it, when I already know what it's going to be.
