You have my deepest sympathies. I am also an occasional sufferer of the foot rot, though most of my incidents have responded quickly and positively to the liberal application of Tinactin. Those first few days are a total bitch though. I would probably seriously consider significant self-harm if the burning itchination got worse instead of better. Heal fast, man.
That doesn't sound like athlete's foot, that sounds like cellulitis, which is a whole motherfucking different can of worms (and which, yes, can start out as athlete's foot). I had it mildly, once, and took it to the GP promptly; it still took six months before the idiopathic pain from damaged nerves went away. I'm hoping your "Doctor can't see me until Wednesday" means this Wednesday, i.e. tomorrow; even so, if you find you're running a fever, you should consider a trip to the ER.
(In extreme cases it can turn into necrotising fasciitis and end up in amputation city. As nearly happened to Peter Watts, who ended up in intensive care for a couple of weeks.)
Yeah, that's my exact concern. They're getting me in this afternoon. What's going on in the feet doesn't look like cellulitis, it looks like vesicular athlete's foot. But it's bad enough that if it doesn't get fixed quick, I'm really worried about complications such as just that exact one arising.

Here's hoping your balls remain itch-free.

Hope you get seen ASAP and you can figure something out that doesn't involve immolating your feets.

Hope you feel better soon. That sounds painful and distracting.
