[For what may be the first time in four months, Yukari is out and about in the village without an experiment being the direct cause, taking in the sights, familiarizing herself with the area a little more. She seems to be making a slow path towards the Battle Dome, but ultimately, she's taking in the sights, casting any passerby a glance at least, ( Read more... )

[Reimu? Is not working. Nor is she doing anything productive. She's mostly just chilling in one of the trees, all bundled up, napping and waking up, yawning, staying awake for all of a few minutes, and then... sleeping again. She's been people-watching too, in her moments of awake, and this is one of those times.

So when Yukari stops to write, Reimu is feeling more awake and is sitting upright. Staring. No one mentioned that Yukari was here!

So she'll float on down to the ground. And she might use her gohei as a poking stick. She has to make sure she's real, you know.]

[The reaction Yukari has is a bit odd, especially for her. At first, she doesn't see Reimu... but once the miko gets close enough, it jars the youkai out of her daze and causes her to tilt her head in confusion.]

[Then, the poke with the gohei. Were she a lesser youkai, or were Reimu more skilled with exorcism blessings, that might actually sting a little. As it is, it's proof to her that the girl in front of her is not only no hallucination, but is also exactly who she thinks it is. She actually looks... on anyone else, one might say 'frightened'. But Yukari is past such reactions, isn't she?]

[And then, just like that, it's gone, the gap youkai stoic and perhaps a bit standoffish, her words distant and not really directly towards Reimu.]

...So that's the game they're playing.

[In her wandering toward the Battle Dome, she'll inevitably meet a person of interest. After all, he's there most days! Hopefully a familiar voice from behind her after she closes her journal will help raise the youkai's spirits a bit.]

Hey, Yukari! [He gives her a light smile before stepping forward a bit more.] Everything all right? I haven't seen you in awhile...

[Sadly, by thst point, Yukari has already learned of Reimu's presence, and come to her own conclusions on what that entails. An already icy mood was just worsened by those thoughts, so pardon that the smile you get is a pale mockery of actual happiness, Adell.]

Mmn. Hey. Yeah... I suppose things are alright. I got to find out firsthand what those kidnappings were.

[Should she admit that? Her laziness and penchant for hibernation was already legendary, she could easily lie about it.

And yet... Adell would see right through such things, she figured.]

Haven't quite gotten a grasp on how long I was gone, even.

...I'm not sure either. Last time I saw you was five or six weeks ago. I was worried something happened. Figured it was an abduction.

[His own tone is serious, but he can tell she's not in a good mood at all. This sort of tone isn't like her normal mischievous self. Hopefully he can help.]

They didn't hurt you, did they?

[Because if they did that'd be one more for the list of reasons to beat some people down.]

Mmn. Nothing lasting. My powers seem even weaker than before. I seem to have problems breaching the boundary between here and elsewhere. I suppose it only makes sense, given the potential of escape.

That's not what worries me.

I've never heard of a kotatsu before. May I ask what it is?

It is a special table of Japanese make. It sits low to the ground and has a blanket over it to keep the heat in, and has a heating element in the base so that you can keep yourself warm when the weather gets too cold.

Here... I think I can doodle up a rough sketch without any trouble.

[And attached is an image.]

Oh, that seems like a wonderful thing to have! Especially at this time of year.

If you can't find one, do you think it's possible to make one?

You may be able to find a gas heater in the store. I can't say I know what a kotatsu is, however.

If I could procure a heater, it would simply be a matter of getting a table that would not combust with the heat. A kotatsu is simply a warmed table, after all.

I see. It sounds useful in this weather.

Indeed. I'm... not much for winter, I admit. I'm more the kind for a midsummer's night.

Come to think of it, I don't believe I've ever seen a kotatsu in the stores.

[ Though acquiring one sounds very nice right about now. ]

Might be too... high-tech for a place like this.

We've had electricity for a while now, so I doubt that. I suppose not enough people owned them, or everyone who did found theirs the moment it showed up.

...You happen to know where I could get just a space heater, then? It's not hard to work out how to make a kotatsu from that, if push comes to shove.
