There's far more things unrealistic than the things you've listed and while the BWP will be a change of pace, it'll go back to the way it was before, lol.
My post isn't a list of "all the things that are unrealistic"; there's just a few examples.
Going back to the way things were before is up to every player's discretion on how they let their character handle things. I've decided that my characters will have some gradual changes.
To be fair, though, it's next to impossible to roleplay anything without anthropomorphising it given that we've only ever been humans! But I agree with you, and Meagan too. I'm not sure the general wolf friendliness bothers me as much as some other things. XD
It's one thing to add human characteristics to the wolf for the sake of the game, but things like "getting married" and having "husbands" and "wives" is a bit much (and a bit weird!). :P But as the other comments have made note of, there's far more and much more ridiculous things that are floating around. While some realistic aspects of the game, and IMO, some of the more insignificant ones, are regulated and enforced ad nauseam, the strangest, most unrealistic ones are left alone. Makes for a good read though I suppose!
And to make a point -- I do not object to role play as it is now, not at all. However, like a challenge, I'm happy that the new BWP gives a chance to develop my character(s) in ways that I've never seen them act before. Personally I am going to focus a bit more on realism.
Personally, I think it's great you've put that much effort into adding realistic depth to your characters, and plan on doing even more once the new plot really gets going.
But the idea of wolves being mated can be described a variety of ways, and I think it is a little unfair to segregate which are considered an accurate description or not. Though I agree, they never actually got "married" in a human sense, nor are they "husband and wife". But it isn't used as a literal fact, just an idle description to paint the same sort of concept of being "together" in a post.
That said, the BWP is really a good place to rethink many of the things you've mentioned here, and to realize just how they just don't fit in a realistic, life or death, setting. :)
