my sole accomplishment today was acquiring a Salem library card.

please recommend to me your favorite book, or any piece of literature you believe everyone should read during their lifetime.

I'm a big fan of the Wrinkle in Time series...or at least the first three=) You don't need a library card though, I have them in my UAP=D

The Scarlet Letter - Nathaniel Hawthorne (Favorite book in high school lit)
Night - Elie Wiesel
To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee
Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte
The Count of Monte Cristo - Alexandre Dumas (If you've seen the movie you may not want to read the book)
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen (It's just an all time favorite. I read it at least once a year it's so good.)

Oooohhhh!! and while I was writing this I thought of THE PRINCESS BRIDE!!!!!! Dude, best book eeeeeevvvveeerrrr!!! Almost made me pee my pants I was laughing so hard :)Anyway, I could keep on going with great books because I used to read constantly during the summers and have tons of great books that I love ...these are just my top 6...(7 if you count the Princess Bride :))
