[The first thing Simon was aware of was that there was a form next to him, when there had certainly not been one the night before.  Still, he wasn't all too surprised just yet, as from time to time, Richard would come to sleep in the same room when the Phantom attacks were high, acting as a bodyguard.  But on realizing that the form was much ( Read more... )

[The denomination of the Mayfield church changes every week, but this week the church seems to be Catholic. At the side altar, in front of the statue of Mary, Farfarello kneels, candle in hand and dripping hot, painful wax onto his fingers as he prays. He feels the pain this time, feels the searing burn, but he imagines it must be worth it, if his suffering will buy him any recognition. He repeats the Hail Mary in Gaelic, over and over.

If Simon won't approach him before he's done, he will eventually put the candle in the holder and stand, flexing his hands to get the wax to flake off.]

[Simon is the sort who doesn't bother people at prayer unless there's a reason, so he'll stand near one of the pews and watch quietly until Farfarello is done, before speaking up.]

You must be quite dedicated, that you would not react to the pain of the wax.

[One of the faithful, but not a drone. How lucky. He tilts his head to the side, almost to an unnatural angle, regarding the man with a sense of amusement as well as curiosity.]

It's taken some getting used to.

I would imagine.

[Simon is obviously studying Farfarello]

You're not one of the people who keep saying they know me, are you? Your style doesn't suit them at all.

[It's probably not a bad thing that he won't be greeted with a repetitive broken record of a drone priest upon his first visit to the Mayfield church; the nun who came here in the afternoon on most days out of her own accord is currently in.

She looks up when the door creaks open; that's a new face. It doesn't seem like a drone, though. Her fingers crossed and resting on her abdomen, she steps down from the altar.]

Good afternoon, and welcome to the Church of Salvation. May I assist you, sir?

[Simon looks at her, and there seems to be a bit of relief on his face. Still, considering he's likely had his fill of drones already on his wanderings, he seems to be a bit wary still.]

I'm just... Exploring.

Yes... You're... Not one of the ones here who will say you've known me forever, are you?
