Letters to Rozer, Part 3
Dear Rozer and Jeremy and Verity and Deadeye and Mimi,
Today Pepper came to visit! She's really nice, and all fuzzy, and she lives in the Hedge now, but she had Mary's scarf and she said Ari gave it to her, so some people went to go talk to Ari. I didn't though, because Rita got a phone call and ran away and I followed her and one of their puppies had run up to Bryce and fallen over dead. So then Bryce tried to explain dead to Rita, but I'm not sure it worked. Also then Birdy and Alya came and found us, and we went where the puppy had come from and there was a skeleton in a cloak that they said was Fall. It didn't say anything, but it must've been mad because it did this sort of ice-splinter thing that really hurt, but was definitely fall-ish and not winter-ish, but Alya hit it with her swords and it turned into leaves and went away. Also Birdy had an hourglass that was running out, but she turned it over. I don't know if that worked or not. We went to go find London then, but when Bryce tried to give London the crown it wouldn't go and went back to her, because it wasn't fancy enough to just hand it over in the street. Then Fall showed up again and killed one of Birdy's cultists and leafed away again.
So after that we all went to Bryce and Rita and Inana (although she moved away or something) and Lolkitty and Frances's house, which you get to through a trash can, for their Halloween/Coronation party, and this time the crown was okay with moving and the hourglass went away. So then it was okay and we had the Halloween half of the party. Rita and Gliss and Birdy and I all went as princesses, with matching hats, and Skulk was an angel and Bryce was something creepy with a backwards face, and we had to explain Halloween earlier to some of the new people, so the tall guy from the Hedge whose name turns out to be Burt went off with Rikki to get costumes and they were Paul Bunyan and Babe The Big Blue Ox. There's an even newer person named Clare who's made of ice, but she's staying with Bryce and Frances, which is good because there's a lot of people in our house already. Also London was the Slenderman again with eyes for hands and Lolkitty was Santa, but I don't know if it was on purpose or not. They had bobbing for apples and music to dance to and lots of candy and Doritos and a game where you try to throw ping-pong balls into gin. Rita drank kind of a lot of gin. Also Pepper explained hookers to us, and Bryce and Frances helped. We had to leave, though, because Rita heard a vacuum cleaner coming and apparently you don't want to run into it in the Hedge.
There was a power outage later, and the streetlights went out and the cat superhero lady came through a wall to say that the HIPA was locked in because the door is electronic and doesn't have power, so we went through the Hedge to go get them out and we met the hedgepirates again, but they didn't hurt anybody. When we got to the inside, Victor Bosch turned out to have gotten shot by somebody whose name was either Fisher or Fletcher when the lights went out and they thought something jumped at them, so they shot the darkness. We didn't have Doctor Bear with us (also at the party he tried to give everyone drugs and Morrigan tried to bite him), so Skulk tried to fix him and made it worse, and Bryce gave him a hedgefruit which helped some but also made him drunk. We tried to get the door open, but it was all electronic deadbolts, so the best way was to go through the wall, but Victor Bosch said not to, but he didn't want to go through the Hedge either. Skulk grew spider legs so she could carry someone really fast, and Victor Bosch said she looked like a D&D, but I don't think that's right.
We eventually went through the Hedge, and Fisher was scared because he'd never seen changelings before, but there was this swampy bit with little purple mice and they bit people and were poisonous, so Skulk and Frances took him on ahead to the hospital. When the rest of us got there we went to find Katya, and they were already there. Katya fixed everybody and Victor Bosch said to close our eyes, but Katya didn't mind. Also Fletcher quit the HIPA, and I think we misunderstood hookers, because Victor Bosch was very confused and he would know about sex better than us, because he's married. Although I still don't think a D&D is a thing, even if he says it's what jumped at Fisher.
So after we left the hospital we went to get ice cream, because they were giving it away because it was melting. Simon was really upset to see us, though, and he said to get ice cream and leave, but before we left the Namble showed up and tried to kidnap Simon, but then they came back for some reason. Nobody's hurt anymore except maybe Simon. All the normal people ran away and the Namble peeled three of itself out of a reflection in the cooler doors, and Frances shot that reflection but it came out of the window behind us and swiped at her, and I broke the window after that and the Namble turned one of itself into Burt so we wouldn't know which one to hit, and Pepper did something to one of them by touching it. She's very wyrd-y and she said she had tea with her Keeper at the party. Rozer, is Pepper crazy? Because if she isn't I'm kind of worried.
Anyway, people hit the Nambles until they fell apart and Simon said to leave and wouldn't let anyone help him even though one of the Nambles tried to cut out his eye and it was all bleeding. He said trouble follows us, so instead of it being good we were there to stop it from taking his eyes, it was bad because he thinks it only showed up because we were there. Also, his phone exploded during the fight sometime. I think maybe he just likes explosions.
