There always seem to be threats of exodus, but honestly until outrage overcomes apathy, you're probably only going to see a few people try it out and then come back to where everyone else still is.
I'm not sure that analogy applies to the specific example you used and my point about it, but okay. It's very easy for a company to look like it's never going to make a bad decision or do anything wrong before it really gets going and/or gets big enough to screw up/go corporate/need to cover its ass/ect.
I'm not abandoning LJ...but I like the people on the staff at DW. They're trying to make it a good place for the users...something LJ did in its beginning, too.

Probably depends on how you feel about seeing ads for anti-marriage-equality organisations on the pages (and friends-pages) of GLBT LJ'ers.
Among other things, of course. Pretty much the definitive round-up is this collection of posts, entitled 'Why Dreamwidth?'.

"My Windows machine got a virus last week."
"I'm sorry to hear that. You might want to try Linux -- it doesn't have problems with that sort of thing."
"But Microsoft issued a patch and the anti-virus companies updated their dictionaries, so I'm back to work."
"I'm very happy for you. You should still consider Linux; you may well be happier with it. Here are some links to useful information."
"But I'm very attached to my Windows machine."
"So be it. Different strokes for different folks."
This is crude, but it approximates my sentiments.
