Just returned from picking up my entries at the Count Fair, and I am simply floored by how well I did in my first time doing this. Check this out:
First place in its category, which I think was "Other Articles". They really should create a biscornu category; I can't be the only one in this entire county that does them! Then again, I didn't see any other biscornu in the running, so maybe I am... o.O
This, though, takes the cake (and the frosting and sprinkles!) for me:
Counted Work Reserve Champion!! WOW! I think this is just that little bit sweeter because it was a piece that James loved. He may even have had a hand in it doing so well. :) It seems I lost 2 points for having my backing taped on (it was taped really nicely, though!), so I'll need to keep that in mind next year. But the judge was particularly impressed with the metallics in the fish's scales, and she bloody well should be because that was some seriously meticulous work on my part!
Overall, it's just wonderful having my work appreciated. James isn't here anymore to encourage me, and this actually really got me wanting to do more stitching. I think it was just the boost I needed to get back into my groove. Next year, I'm going for Grand Champion of the needlework category!! Mwa ha ha HA!! :D
