So I had an interview with LA Unified School District yesterday. I had applied for a substitute teaching position, and as I met the recruiter we sat down and she told me, "Well, with your qualifications, I could just interview you for a Full Time teaching position, right now if you like." An emergency creditial? Do they just...like...really need teachers or something in California? In any event, that's cool, but beware if you journey into full-time mode! Subs have it made because they just coast in and follow somebody else's plan...having to come up with a unit structure is a pain in the ass! If one thing is a tick off, either students eat you alive or you end up getting way off point and not teaching anything. It's a beautiful dance! I have much more respect for teachers now that I am one! Still, though, it's not that hard...the top requirement for a teacher is not to be retarded, AKA to actually teach as opposed to the other things some teachers do, like give out pointless work and not care and never TEACH anything ( ... )
