a life without guilt, without regret, is a life unexamined and, as i am told, a life not worth living. the aim of existence should not be to avoid certain feelings or experiences but to accept and experience them all. polarities define reality. without true fear, there would be no true love. without true sadness, no true joy. without true regret, there is no true acceptance. i can only hope one day to find such "serenity through acceptance".

Way to say everything I just said! :)

I would argue, though, that the opposite of love is not fear, but loss. Fear is something that can be eliminated from life, and according to your definition of reality, without fear you could have no love. No, I would say that loss is the polar opposite of love. While the fear of loss may motivate us to do things contrary to the natural progression of life, it is the idea of loss that runs counter to the principles. Also, like polarities do, the two integrate with one another. Love is a loss; a loss of self.
