Amazing shot.
What equipment do you use? (ie. lighting, camera, etc. et al)
I'm trying to become a better photographer but still working to find my way around my Nikon D50.. any tips in general?

canon 400D. as far as lighting goes, all my stuff if naturally lit, but in this case, it was just a near by desk lamp.

as for tips, well, take pics of things that catch your eye. technically speaking, you're asking the wrong guy.

If you're still working to find your way around your camera, the easiest way to grow is to become intimately familiar with the relationship between focal length, aperture, ISO and shutter speed. Once you've read up on the interplay between these factors (Wikipedia is good!) experiment with them when you're out shooting - you can work on your composition and technical skills at the same time! This is a good place to start, and once you've got the fundamentals down it's mostly just shooting what you love to shoot and looking into ways to shoot what you love to shoot better!
